Events :: Massive rally against Putin held in the Russian town of Penza city. Protestors demanded his resignation

A rally that was the largest for the past few years was held by Russian opposition organizations in the city of Penza. According to opposition sources, some 1500 to 2000 protestors came to the Soviet Square in the center of Penza on Sunday, March 7. The organizer of the action was the local branch of the Communist Party.

According to opposition media outlets, the activists of Yabloko, Left Front Movement, ROT Front Party, Volya and Pravoye Delo Party joined the rally.

Putin's authorities used a trick to disrupt the demonstration. They promised a free entry to a local Zoo during of time of the rally. But they didn't succeed much in diminishing the number of the participants, the organizers said
